The beach hotel SUB CABINS Our hotel rooms, commonly referred to as the SUB cabins, are located in the beach hotel, right next to the sandy beach and Strandbaren. The inspiration for the SUB cabins is taken from the old underground cellars, which were protected inside the sandbank, but we have brought in daylight by creating large light openings in the roof and floor-to-ceiling glass in front facing the sea. An important reason why the hotel has been built into the sandbank is precisely to mitigate the effects of the intervention. You cannot see the hotel from the back. The building is primarily made of concrete and glass, but is furnished with softer touches of various textiles and canvas, which has a varied and complex selection of interior elements. Among other things, we collaborated with the College of Art and Design in Gothenburg and reused e.g. old elements from Troningen Gård and the ship-breaking yard in the interior. Each room is uniquely furnished, as you can see in the pictures of the rooms when you book online. Bygget er primært utført i betong og glass, men er innredet med mykere innslag av diverse tekstiler og seilduk, som har et variert og sammensatt utvalg av interiørelementer. Vi samarbeidet blant annet med Högskolan för konst och design i Göteborg og gjenbrukte bl.a. gamle elementer fra Troningen Gård og skipsopphuggeriet i interiøret. The coastal houses directly behind the hotel are all privately owned, but we have an agreement with some of the owners to rent out, both to guests on courses/conferences, parties and holiday stays. The coastal houses are different in size, content and location, but what they all have in common is that they have from 5-8 beds, a fully equipped kitchen, living room and bathroom. Enjoy your stay with a great view of the Atlantic Ocean, work, relax, cook your own food, or stroll down to the Beach Bar for a delicious meal if that suits you better. Our sustainability measures Sustainability, circularity and the fact that Stokkøya beach hotel is the right choice for climate aware customers is important to us. We make active choices on who we choose to co-opreate with. Here are some of the measures we take: Norwegian carbon storage At Stokkøya Strandhotell, all guests have the opportunity to offset the climate footprint of their stay! The carbon is stored in Trønder's topsoil, and a good amount also ends up in the hotel's own cultivation. Find out more here Chargers for el-cars We have 10 EV chargers (7 kW) from Aneo at Stokkøya Strandhotell, and there are 10 chargers (11 kW) at Bygdeboksen and Stokkøy Bakeri. Charging is paid via the EasyPark app. 50 meters away from Strandbaren, we grow almost all the vegetables and herbs for the restaurant. Cultivation Locally sourced food As far as possible, we use local suppliers for the restaurant. Eliminating food waste We work actively against food waste both in the kitchen and in attitude-building work among employees and guests. Recycling All waste is sorted at source and recycled. Miljøfyrtårn- sertifisering We are in the process of certification for Miljøfyrtårn. Miljøfyrtårn companies work concretely with sustainability in areas such as the working environment, waste management, energy use, procurement and transport. It also provides good conditions for helping to achieve several of the UN's sustainability goals. Klimapartnere We are part of Klimapartnere, which is an active partnership across the country. This is how we unleash the green conversion potential that lies in our collective creativity, action power and ability to implement.
